We took these photos during our Nepali event at Bait Lothan, where Nadia Alsomali shared her experience in Nepal.

“The thing about the trip to Nepal that is different from other trips i’ve taken, is that no one single moment stands out. Whenever I am asked about the trip, I find myself almost at a loss for words because I don’t know where to start.

I didn’t realize it at the time, but I grew from that trip.

Humanity is not something that I could easily explain. It was always a fuzzy concept for me. That was until we did charity work in Nepal.

I understood, or rather, experienced humanity. When we arrived at the school we would be working on, we were welcomed. They didn’t know us and we didn’t know them, but they were so warm and excited and happy to host us. After the children handed us flowers and sang their anthem, which was beautiful to watch, the principal, a quiet gentle white-haired woman who was obviously loved by everyone.. she came and blessed us one at a time. It was sincere. She was truly thankful for us being there… In that moment I recognized that beauty I saw in her and in that moment, it also lives in all of us. I believe that connection, what I call beauty – that is humanity.

Inspiration. Now, inspiration was everywhere and in everything. But what continues to inspire me to this day is the Ox Adventure team. I haven’t mentioned it to them, but having the cofounders there with us and working beside us .. It proved that they are passionate about what they are doing. Throughout the trip, they were finding ways to make the next trips better for the volunteers. They were finding ways to help the school and children more effectively, wanting them to be self-sufficient. They also were quick to adjust to the circumstances and find solutions to every problem along the way, they adapted and worked together. Getting to see a group of people working passionately for the same purpose, that is a once in a life time experience. What I saw in the team was some of the inner-workings of what it takes to create and sustain a dream.

To know that Ox Adventure started as your idea, nothing more than an idea.. and I got to live and experience it in reality.. what that means to me is that all my dreams are possible too.

Thank you for that.

I came back to Kuwait with a better idea of the person I want to be. What I impact I want to have on the world. I was asking, What can I do today? What can I do here in Kuwait? What is my big dream that I want to realize?

I would say that Ox Adventure has surpassed their mission to educate, inspire and shape the Kuwaiti youth. I felt I came back with a new outlook, humility, and immense gratitude.

Ox Adventure gave us an experience, memories, wonderful stories to tell, new friends, and they are making the world better in more ways than they intended.”
